LETTS'S NO 35 AUSTRALIAN ROUGH DIARY OR SCRIBBLING JOURNAL with a week in each o

8vo soft back Tan wrappers worn spine with loss , loss to extremities contemporary ownership signature to top wrapper and title page.  Circa 200pp & adverts. Colonial diary belonging to Reginald Arthur St  [Quintus?) Hill.  About 200 days of entries. The author owner or worker in Walloon a pastoral station in Banana shire, Queensland, Australia . In 1878 Walloon was in the unsettled area owned by the Commercial Bank by 1882 the property was in the hands of Mr Augustus Barton , whose family still own it today. Quite detailed entries concerning stock movement and occasional theft. A rare survival of a colonial diary. I have been unable to locate the diarist but suspect he returned to the Uk and may be a forebear of the historical author Alfred Duggan (as it came with a collection of his personal books)
