LORD OF THE FLIES (FILM ASSOCIATION COPY)

 WILLIAM GOLDING  & PETER BROOK

LORD OF THE FLIES

Private album consisiting of b&w stills from the film and sections of script. The 1963 film, directed by Peter Brook, used 30 amateur child actors. It appears that at the end of the production each child actor was presented with an indvidually tailored album, including sections from the script (related to the actor)  and photos stills. Each child's name being embossed in gold to front of the album. This copy belonged to Anthony McCall Judson who played Julien. The album is rather brittle due to the quality paper stock used, so suffers some page damage and tearing. One page detaching. The album consists of several pages of script and original photographs featuring McCall Judson. There is also a cast list and 20 original photographic prints of the shooting of the film. The film was shot entirely in Puerto Rico at Aguadilla, El Yunque and on the island of Vieques . It is likely from the quality of the album that it  was produced on set and presented at the end of filming. Can locate only one copy of this item in the British film institute Library, this copy has a few other items in it, there is a space left in the back of my copy which was probably intended to be added to by the families of the actors. Originally 30 School boys were recruited for the film so presume this was the number of albums produced. There is some page damage due to paper stock (the BFI copy underwent conservation). Contained within purpose made archival box
